Fatema, 2.5 months, with her mother Majeda and father Jaber
Fatema was admitted to the UNICEF supported Stabilization Centre due to Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM). She weighed just 2 kg and lifesaving intervention was required. Fatema’s mother experienced difficulties with breastfeeding and Fatema became severely malnourished. Now, Fatema’s mother can breastfeeding using an alternative Supplementary Sucking Technique (SST). Fatema can receive milk and she is gaining weight.
Over 400 children with Severe Acute Malnutrition and complications received urgent lifesaving care at two UNICEF supported Stabilization Centres in 2018.
