They have 11 family members living in their small shelter. “We left Myanmar 15 years ago, but my daughter and granddaughter arrived only two years ago. My daughter lives in a different camp with her new husband.” says grandfather Zafor Hossain. “I lost my eyesight about five years ago. Before that I could work on the fishing boats and bring home an income. Now it is very difficult to provide for my household. I am happy we receive this cash assistance. It helps us to put food on the table. I love spending time with Runa. It makes me happy to know that she is getting an education.” UNICEF and the Department of Social Services launched an integrated case management and cash assistance program in June 2018, benefitting 4,200 children and 3,000 foster caregivers.
